PAST SIMPLE
Minulý čas prostý využíváme především v případě, že popisujeme či vyprávíme o dějích či jiných věcech, které se staly v minulosti, v minulosti také skončily a do přítomnosti nezasahují !!!
Signální slova vyjadřující minulost(příklady):
- yesterday
- ago - a week ago, five days ago, a month ago
- last Friday, last week, last year, last month
- in 2001
(Nasledující úsek si pouze přečtěte, nemusíte psát, ale musíte pamatovat ☝ Minulý čas používáme v případě, kdy někomu vyprávíme, co se nám přihodilo např. o minulých prázdninách, o minulém víkendu nebo během školního či praconího dne. Vždy se jedná o již proběhlé a ukončené události!)

MINULÝ ČAS PROSTÝ V KLADNÉ OZNAMOVACÍ VĚTĚ TVOŘÍME:
- tak, že k základnímu tvaru slovesa pouze přidáme koncovku - ed visit + -ed = visited
- u nepravidelných sloves využíváme jejich 2. tvar. have / had / had do / did/ done
Věta oznamovací kladná v minulém čase prostém:
Podmět + základní tvar slovesa + koncovka -ed / 2. tvar nepravidelného slovesa
Lucy + visited Claire + had

ZDVOJÍME POSLEDNÍ SOUHLÁSKU
- jednoslabičná slovesa - poslední 3 písmena souhláska+samohláska+souhláska STOP → STOPPED - která končí na L - TRAVEL → TRAVELLED - která končí na R - PREFER → PREFERRED
ODSTRANÍME POSLEDNÍ SAMOHLÁSKU -E
- pokud končí sloveso samohláskou - e USE → USED ARRIVE → ARRIVED
ZMĚNÍME TVRDÉ - Y NA MĚKKÉ -I
- pokud je před tvrdým -y souhláska CRY → CRIED
- pokud je před tvrdým - y samohláska tak Y neměníme PLAY→ PLAYED
